I named my second album before I completed all the songs on it. I’m not sure that’s what other musical artists do, but I don’t know that I’m particularly typical.

As I developed songs, I noticed a bunch of them shared a theme. “Destination Unknown.” “The Secret.” “X Is Rarely the First Letter of a Song’s Title.” 

Mystery.

There’s an irony to that. The last word I would use to describe me is mysterious. But it couldn’t describe myself as a musician not so long ago.

So I named the album “Man of Mystery..” With the album came the idea of a title track – which I hadn’t written yet.

I ruminated about what mystery sounds like. And I hope I managed to convey that. Besides a piano, “Man of Mystery” relies on synthesized string sounds to create the imagery.
